This style of loft conversion involves no alterations to the exterior shape of your property apart from the introduction of Velux windows to bring light and air to the room. This conversion requires no planning permission but demands a fairly large loft, to be useful space.
This loft conversion creates an extension to your roof area by building up out of the roof, at the back of the property. This extension increases the headroom and provides the loft with more habitable space This type of conversion can be carried out without planning permission if certain size requirements are met, and you have not already extended the property. See: Permitted Development.
This loft conversion creates the most room by using the entire width of the loft area. The entire back roof is removed and the conversion rises all the way to the apex by building up the party walls. This creates a fantastic space in which you can really maximise the potential of your loft. This type of conversion can again be carried out without planning permission if certain size requirements are met.
This loft conversion allows you to exploit the potential headroom by raising the hip ended roof to a vertical brick/block work , gable end. This gives you even more space ,and often allows additional room for that all important staircase. A rear dormer can also be added to this type of conversion.
